Gracie went home and is doing well, and last week we welcomed 4-year old Silas, his dad and grandmother. Silas had a heart transplant as an infant…a heart that is fully functioning without medications! Sadly, his compromised immune system has allowed a virus to attack his kidneys. He is back at UVA Children’s Hospital from southern VA receiving weekly infusions in an effort to save them.
Sincere thanks to our friends at Renaissance Lighting in Roanoke, Virginia for their help in furnishing our three apartments! Owner Troy Cook saw an interview with Yellow Door’s Executive Director JoAnne McTague on TV Channel 3 in Roanoke earlier this year and jumped at the chance to help.
Renaissance produces quality Contract Lighting and Metal Furnishings for the Hospitality Industries, along with unique items for Specialty Markets including NASCAR and Colleges & Universities.
Renaissance has provided the lamps for our units , including special dust-resistant lampshades , key to our immunocompromised efforts. They’ve also provided beautiful, indestructible metal patio tables to go along with our yellow chairs! A shout out to Emily for coordinating the effort and to George for providing special delivery!
A sincere thanks to everyone who has made Yellow Door a success.
