Become an Outreach Volunteer
Yellow Door is looking for volunteers to help with its mission to not only provide lodging to families, but to lend support to families as they face a difficult time.
From providing meals, to checking in with families while they are with Yellow Door and following up with them after they return home, to writing thank you notes to our incredible donors and community partners, to planning outreach events, Yellow Door seeks your talents.

Meal Ministry
Yellow Door helps prevent food insecurity in a number of ways: grocery deliveries from the Emergency Food Network (EFN), gift card donations from local restaurants and grocery stores and weekly deliveries of prepared meals via the meal train. We are looking for volunteers to help in all these areas.
Additonally, local businesses or groups can host a “Communiuty Meal” served in The Union where all currernt families are invited to eat together. If your group is interested in hosting a Communuity Meal, please contact Jannemieke: jannemiekekeener@gmail.com
Family Care Team
When families come to stay with Yellow Door for extended periods of time, they leave behind the support network of friends, family and neighbors. Our “Family Care Team” initiative is a tangible demonstration of care and love, ensuring that our families feel supported and cherished throughout their journey.
If you would like to help with weekly family check-ins, organizing special treats around birthdays, holidays or treatment milestones, and being a point of contact between YDF and our families, please contact JoAnne: joanne@yellowdoorfdn.org.
Events Committee
Be part of the growing number of annual events Yellow Door hosts to raise awareness of and funds to support the YDF mission. Annual events include: Fall Golf Tournament, Heart fopr Hope Spring Fundraising Luncheon and outreach events throughout Virginia.
We need volunteers to help plan, set up and work events, help soliciting inkind donations and sponsorships to cover event expenses, and assistance with planning community outreach events in Charlottesville and elsewhere in Virginia to share our work with the community.
