Meet Eva
Meet Eva, a bright and creative 14-year-old from Warsaw, Virginia, and the oldest of four sisters.
In the summer of 2025, Eva’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart condition she was born with. On July 21, she was admitted to UVA Children’s Hospital, where doctors placed an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) to help her heart pump blood as she waited for a transplant.
Just weeks later, Eva received the incredible gift of a new heart — and in true Eva fashion, she amazed everyone with her strength and resilience, healing so quickly that she was home within a month.
During her time in Charlottesville, Yellow Door became an important part of Eva’s journey. Having a safe, caring place for her family to stay at Starr Hill offered peace and comfort through uncertain days.
When she’s not focusing on her recovery, Eva loves to spend her quiet moments drawing and reading, letting her creativity shine as brightly as her spirit. Her courage and grace continue to inspire everyone who has been lucky enough to walk beside her on this journey.
