Meet Karter
Karter required heart surgery at UVA Health Children’s right after birth.
Karter was born at the end of October, and from the very beginning, his medical team knew he would face heart complications that required immediate specialized care. To stay close to him during this critical time, his family stayed at Tommy’s Place so they could be by his side the moment he needed them.
Karter is the youngest of four, with siblings ages 7, 6, and 3. Having a place where the whole family could stay together brought tremendous comfort during an otherwise frightening and uncertain period. Being close helped ease the stress for his siblings and allowed his parents to focus on his care.
Karter made wonderful progress, and he was finally able to go home. His family is deeply grateful for the support and kind thoughts they received throughout their journey.
