Meet Van
Say hello to Van, a sweet 2-year-old who is currently waiting for the greatest gift of all—a Hero Heart.
Van was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a complex congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart does not develop properly. He underwent two life-saving open-heart surgeries as an infant, allowing him to go home and enjoy being a happy little boy who loves playing outside, spending time with his cousins, and chasing after his dog.
Today, Van is back in the hospital awaiting a heart transplant. By his side every step of the way are his mom, dad, and baby brother. Thanks to Yellow Door, they have a place to stay nearby, allowing them to be together through every appointment, every milestone, and every hopeful day.
