Meet Ben
Three open-heart surgeries weren’t enough to help Ben overcome his congenital heart defect. He needed a new heart.
Young Ben was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) before birth. He had open heart surgeries at 7 days old, 6 months old, and 4 years old. Sadly, none of the corrections supported him long, and he went into heart failure just after his 5th birthday. He received his new heart in July 2019. Ben recuperated with his family at the Baer-Hart House for 39 days before heading home to Nokesville, VA.
Ben’s family took full advantage of the wonderful pool at Stone Creek Village while they stayed with us!
