Meet Brida

On June 24, 2023 Brida seemed to change overnight. The day before, she was a rapidly growing 5.5 month old, meeting every milestone, so happy and sleeping twelve hours a night. Then she just wasn’t. She was refusing to nurse, projectile vomiting, arching, screaming and unable to stay asleep. After a month of incorrect diagnoses, it was determined her issues were caused by a rapidly failing heart. 

She is currently in the PICU at UVA Health Children’s awaiting a transplant, which could take up to three months.  

“Without Yellow Door, I don’t know what we would do or where we would stay. Our apartment is incredible. It’s a place we can actually come back to and relax- something our own hearts needed so deeply after 2 weeks of living in a PICU room. It’s a place we can recharge and stay strong for our girl. We are so thankful for this foundation and the Baer-Hart family’s generosity.”
