Meet Chloe

Chloe was treated for a stage 4 Wilm’s Tumor.

Chloe is came to Yellow Door just before she turned 4 and underwent surgery to remove a cancerous kidney.  She, her parents and grandmother stayed at our Dreamer apartment for almost a year while Chloe underwent  treatment for a Wilms tumor.
She loved her big bunny and little bunny!  Chloe has a wonderful voice, and joyful spirit.
March 2024 Update:  After a year of treatment, Chloe was able to ring the bell marking the end of her journey at UVA.  The family was able to stay at Yellow Door throughout her entire treatment.

Sadly, Chloe passed away in August 2024…

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Chloe, a brave and beautiful soul who touched all of us at Yellow Door. Chloe came to us 16 months ago at the age of 3, diagnosed with a stage 4 Wilms tumor. During her year-long battle, she stayed at our Dreamer Apartment with her loving parents and grandparents, enduring countless days of chemotherapy.

In March, Chloe rang the bell with excitement, signaling the end of her cancer treatment journey. However, just three short months later, she began to experience severe abdominal pain. A scan at UVA revealed the devastating news: the cancer had returned, this time more aggressive and relentless. Despite all efforts, Chloe’s tiny body could not withstand the onslaught, and she passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted doctor, Brian Belyea.

Chloe was a tiny but mighty warrior. She filled her apartment and hospital room with her beloved stuffed animals, finding comfort in their presence on her toughest days. Her bright smile and adorable high-pitched voice melted hearts and brought light to everyone fortunate enough to witness them. Chloe’s innocence and grace under extreme circumstances were a testament to her strength, and her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. We are deeply saddened that her light was extinguished far too soon. The hearts of the hundreds who followed her journey and prayed for her daily are broken. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
