Meet Jacob
Jacob was just a year old when he received a new heart.
After Jacob was released from the hospital, he stayed with Mom and sister Elaynah during the week with his dad visiting on weekends. Jacob and family stayed at the VOGA House for 77 days until he was strong enough to go back home to Broadway, VA.
Mom updated YDF in September of 2021 that Jacob is doing amazingly well.
“Having worked in pediatric healthcare for many years, I have experienced the struggles with our families having to choose between being with their hospitalized child and/or not being able to have their entire family nearby due to distance and limited local lodging options. Yellow Door has been a blessing to so many families living with a child with immunocompromised care needs. Yellow Door is committed to helping families stay together during a time when the entire family needs to feel normalized during a child/sibling’s health crisis/challenge.”
Update on Jacob
Jacob’s mom Allie recently told us “He has hit his one-year anniversary for his heart transplant! He is thriving more than I ever thought possible. Since our stay, he has learned to walk and run, say more than 15 words, and will eat anything and everything under the sun. He has such an amazing personality shining through, and doesn’t let anything slow him down.”
