Meet Mollie

Mollie suffered severe myocarditis after contracting a virus in the NICU.

We were honored to welcome baby Mollie, her parents, brother, and grandma as the first residents of our 6th apartment, Fox Hollow in September 2022.

Mollie was born via emergency C-section in August 2022 after an umbilical prolapse, and spent her first week of life in the NICU. While there, she contracted a virus that led to severe myocarditis and required ECMO life support.

When her heart didn’t improve after several weeks, she was transferred to UVA for more extensive care and a potential heart transplant.

UPDATE:  Mollie just turned 11 months and is thriving, with plans for a big first birthday bash next month! Upon her return home back in November, there were still talks of an eventual heart transplant, but her little heart has continued to heal and strengthen. It sounds like that’s no longer going to be necessary! She’s even going to come off her heart medications soon, and we were told her heart looks completely normal. Everyone is thrilled by her progress and healing, and we are so overjoyed to see her precious, funny, and determined little personality bloom. Every milestone is an amazing miracle after all she went through, and we are so grateful!  (And her big brother (age 3) still talks about the Yellow Door “‘partment,” and all his happy memories living there!)
