Meet Bianca and Benny

These precious babies were born early to a former UVA Children’s transplant social worker.

Bianca and Benjamin (“Benny”) were born prematurely and required extended care at UVA Children’s NICU.  Bianca weighed 3 lbs., 11 oz. and her twin brother weighed in at just 1 lb., 13 oz.  These little ones needed to stay in the NICU while they gained weight and learned to eat and breathe on their own.  During this time, the family was appreciative to Yellow Door apartment that allowed them to be close by during recovery.

Mom was a former UVA Children’s transplant social worker and worked with Yellow Door placing families with us, so reached out during this challenging time when no other long-term lodging options were available to them.

“Your generosity came at a time when we needed it most.  I hope our donation helps you continue this valuable mission.  In medicine we have an expression, ‘Cure sometimes, relieve often and comfort always.'”

-Rahul, Bianca and Benny’s Father

“I am just so overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude.  All I can say is thank you…for what you do and for what you are doing for us.  It means the world to us.  I could not have imagined a more beautiful and peaceful place to heal and be during the time our babies are in NICU.”
