We just welcomed Miami (cool name!) and her family to Yellow Door from their home in West Virginia. Miami is a straight A student who had never missed a day of school, but will be with us for the next four to five months while she battles Leukemia at UVA Children’s Hospital. Mom is with her at all times and her dad, brother, sister and grandma travel on weekends to lend support.
Miami’s family is staying at The Dreamer House, made possible by the generosity of our friend Betty Busey and Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia. The apartment is dedicated to the church and their I Have a Dream Program, which was started in the 1990s.
If you have an idea for sponsorship of an apartment or want to dedicate an apartment in someone’s name, please contact Executive Director JoAnne McTague.
