If These Walls Could Talk
Starr Hill
Opened in 2025
Through the generosity of Parke and Coran Capshaw, we opened the doors to our 9th apartment, a 3-bedroom, 2-bath “home” on the hill with views of Carter’s Mountain.
Starr Hill welcomed its first family from Southwest Virginia in April 2025-a family with four children, awaiting the birth of their fifth child who would require life-saving heart surgery immediately after birth. This bigger apartment allows large families like this one to stay together and maintain as much normalcy as possible for the siblings. We are truly grateful to our sponsors-the Capshaws.
Current Resident
Harmoni
Five years ago, Harmoni came to Yellow Door as a tiny newborn in need of a lifesaving heart transplant. In 2020, while staying at what was then known as Rosie’s Place (now the Valley House Apartment), she received her new heart after being born with pulmonary atresia.
Today, Harmoni is back — older, braver, and once again showing incredible strength. She now needs a second heart transplant because her right ventricular dependent coronary arteries are no longer working as they should. She is currently at the hospital, where she will remain until doctors are able to find the perfect heart for her.
